The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s most scenic short treks, following an ancient trade route that connects Paro to Thimphu. This journey takes you through alpine forests, high mountain passes, pristine lakes, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, remote yak pastures, and peaceful campsites under the stars.

Itineary
🔸 Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Arrival at Paro.
Sightseeing:
- Rinpung Dzong
- Dungtse Lhakhang
- Drukgyel Dzong
Overnight stay in Paro.
🔸 Day 2: Paro to Jele Dzong (Trek Begins)
Distance: 10 KM | Time: 4–5 Hours
Start trek from the National Museum area.
Highlights:
- Walk through pine forests & villages
- Visit Jele Dzong
- Views of Mount Jomolhari
Camp at Jele Dzong (~3,480 m).
🔸 Day 3: Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha
Distance: 10 KM | Time: 4–5 Hours
Trail:
- Gradual ascent & descent through alpine forest
- Rhododendron & yak pasture landscapes
Experience:
- Himalayan views
- Possible wildlife sightings
Camp at Jangchulakha (~3,780 m).
🔸 Day 4: Jangchulakha to Jimilangtsho Lake
Distance: 11 KM | Time: 4–5 Hours
Highlights:
- Ridge walk with valley views
- Arrival at Jimilangtsho Lake
Experience:
- Scenic lakeside camping
- Views of Mount Jichu Drake
Camp near the lake (~3,880 m).
🔸 Day 5: Jimilangtsho to Simkota (via Janetsho Lake)
Distance: 11 KM | Time: 4–5 Hours
Trail:
- Pass through Janetsho Lake
- Yak herder camps & high ridges
Highlights:
- View of Simkota Tsho
Camp at Simkota (~4,110 m).
🔸 Day 6: Simkota to Thimphu (Trek Ends)
Distance: 14 KM | Time: 7–8 Hours
Highlights:
- Cross high passes (~4,200 m)
- Views of Himalayan peaks
Descend via:
- Phajoding Monastery
Trek ends near Thimphu.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
🔸 Day 7: Thimphu Sightseeing – Paro
Visit:
- National Memorial Chorten
- Buddha Dordenma
- Takin Preserve
- Textile Academy
- Craft Bazaar
Drive to Paro.
Overnight stay in Paro.
🔸 Day 8: Tiger’s Nest Hike
Morning:
- Hike to Paro Taktsang
Visit:
- Kyichu Lhakhang
Evening:
- Traditional hot stone bath
Overnight stay in Paro.

Transfer to Paro Airport for departure.
