Subject to routing, road conditions and available time, pause at Tachog Lhakhang near Paro. Associated with the Tibetan saint and bridge-builder Thangtong Gyalpo, the riverside setting provides a quiet final stop before entering the valley.<\/span><\/p>

The defining spiritual experience of your final days begins this morning.<\/span><\/p>

A mountain trail rises through fragrant blue pine forest toward Paro Taktsang\u2014Tiger\u2019s Nest Monastery. Prayer flags move between the trees while glimpses of the monastery appear through the forest as you climb.<\/span><\/p>

Along the way, your private Bhutanese host will share the story of Guru Rinpoche, who according to Bhutanese Buddhist tradition reached this cliff on the back of a tigress and meditated within its caves during the eighth century.<\/span><\/p>

As you approach, Tiger\u2019s Nest emerges fully against the mountainside, appearing almost suspended above the valley.<\/span><\/p>

Cross the waterfall and climb the final stone steps before entering its sacred chambers, where incense, butter lamps and quiet prayer create an atmosphere far removed from the world below.<\/span><\/p>
